Portraits at Rose Hill in Winchester, VA
Olivia and I trekked down the trail at this beautiful, lesser-known park last week. Aside from the occasional dog walker or berry-picking couple, there weren't many others there, and that's one of my favorite things about this location! It's quiet, simple, and absolutely beautiful. The sun sets on golden fields with wildflowers blowing in the breeze and cows grazing off in the distance. There's not a whole lot to the trails/park... but that's what holds such charm about Rose Hill! Those that go are there to appreciate nature and get away from the noise.
Side note: Did anyone else watch the movie Rose Hill as a kid? It's the first movie I remember watching as a young child, and my family insisted that I looked just like Mary Rose as a girl. Who, by the way, turns out to actually be named Victoria. MAYBE IT'S ACTUALLY ME. For fun I'll add a childhood photo of me at the end of this post for you to decide for yourself.
But enough about that, check out this beautiful location and the sweet portraits of 15 year old Liv! She's sass and spunk yet sugary sweet, too. I photograph so many small children that working with teens feels like a walk in the park. Haha... no pun intended. But for real.
Piece. of. cake.
Olivia nailed her portraits! I love capturing close-ups as well and a lot of variety/diversity during portrait sessions and she was game for whatever I threw at her. ;)
"Walk toward me and brush the grass with your hand." She understood the assignment!
Rose Hill is situated such that the sunset falls perfectly on the "weeds" and grasses in the fields, creating this gorgeous golden hour glow!
I love that Rose Hill has such simple but beautiful backdrop for photos! It allows for the focus to remain on the subject.
This one wanted to be a black and white image also. It told me.
Rose Hill borders a private farm, and the cows were quietly grazing in the field behind her, which further added to the serenity of the location!
I believe this one was actually her idea--so props to her for this creative shot!
One man's weeds, another man's flowers.
As promised...
