The "M" Family Photoshoot at Abram's Delight in Winchester, VA
Watching the "M" family grow has been such a joy. Over the years they went from a young couple with a puppy to a busy family with 4 beautiful, happy and *occasionally* spunky (J I'm looking at you!) girls. They bring a smile to my face and make my day every time I work with them! Mom has become a friend and inspiration to me over the years. In the midst of scheduling and planning their annual photos she always asks how I'm doing, making a point to tell me she's praying for me and my family as I have gone from young and single to dating, engaged, married, pregnant, new mama and now mama to two. It kind of feels like they watched me grow up, too.
Doing family photography means I get to see sweet babies grow into energetic little kids and–all too quickly–ambitious young adults. It's an honor to be entrusted with photographing so many beautiful stages.

Beautiful Coordination
Mom does a fantastic job coordinating their outfits, and manages to come up with something new and beautiful every year! This year it was blues and whites and–not surprisingly–stunning as always.
We always aim for a variety for their family photos:
Family, kids together, individuals of each kid, kids with each parent, couple, and candids–typically in that order. It's a really smart way to knock all of their photos out in one annual session!
We move quickly and the kids have come to anticipate both an ice cream treat afterward and a surprise from my "treasure chest." I love to shop for people and give gifts, so stocking my treasure chest in anticipation of the littles I'm going to be photographing is one of those fun things I get to do as a family photographer. I think of each little I have scheduled in the upcoming months and what they might especially enjoy and it takes me back to childhood myself! It's also a bit of a game to see if I can predict what they'll choose.
This year they brought ice cream for the girls to enjoy for some of the photos and graciously offered some to me also. What a treat it was to be a part of their ice cream tradition (see the photo at the end of this post)!
